Kozhikode now known as famous calicut has the name derived from the Malayalam expression "Koyil Kodu", meaning "Palace fortified". It is one of the famous boat building yard which is located on the bypore beach.

It is the land with history attached as the famous Vasco Da Gama anchored herein in 1498 A.D at now famous Kappad Beach. It is the city with Lush Green Vegetation, hills, rivers, wildlife and the places of worship making it the must visit destination for tourists.

Dolphin point is a great place to watch as one can see the dolphins enjoying and playing in early morning and on this beach one can also visit Town centre, Lions Club and Lighthouse. The Marine aquarium which is opened whole day is an awesome place to see the marine Life. The backwater rides on the local made boats are not a point to miss while in Kozhikode.
